EIDR operates several different registries, each dedicated to a different type of identifier, distinguished by their ID prefix:
- 10.5240 – Content IDs (audiovisual works in all their forms)
- 10.5239 – Video Service IDs (media delivery channels and services)
- 10.5238 – User IDs (accounts with API/SDK and registry write access)
- 10.5237 – Party IDs (organizations referenced in the other EIDR registries)
Each registry has its own data structures and registration best practices. Users may request the creation of new Party or User IDs (those registries are managed by EIDR Operations). Authorized users can write directly to the Content and Video Service ID registries, issuing new IDs for public use.
